Steak Leftover Recipe To Save Money

We all love steak but after dinner if you have some left what do you do with it?  You know heating it up again will only dry it out and make it loose most of it’s flavor, so you use steak leftover recipes that use it cold.

My favorite thing to do with leftover steak is making sandwiches.  Now before you you start thinking steak is too expensive for sandwiches, then think about this.  At the deli you normally spen anywhere from 4.99-10.99/lb, with good beef costing around 7.99/lb.  Well that’s about the same as what you just spent on that steak, so why not use it for a really tasty sandwich.

Making the sandwich is pretty simple but you can choose to do it multiple ways.  You can either slice the steak so it is wafer thin, and have a sandwich with cheese and lettuce.  You can also cube it and add bbq to the sandwich.  Or, my personal favorite, you can slice it put it on a hogie.  Then make some Au Jus sauce from a packet, heat the sandwich in the oven, wrapped in foil for 10 minutes at 300.  Then enjoy a very tasty French Dip.

If you don’t much favor sandwiches you can also substitute the bread for a tortilla and do the same things with it.  However, if you choose the tortilla you can add some rice to it which will make it more filling.

If you prefer to go a healthier route you can do a salad.  You may be surprised to hear that a very popular restuarant in Boston actually serves steak that they slice paper thin on top of a salad.  Of course the price is a lot more then I would ever be willing to pay but the idea is perfect for steak leftovers.  Just slice the steak as thin as you want or you can cube it if that’s easier and then use it on top of a salad.
